A Weekend on Two Wheels: Our Prespa Run and Fun Experience
Admin
PrespaByBike joined Prespa Run and Fun for a weekend filled with camping, cycling, local food, time at Pretor Beach, live music and an afternoon bike tour to Krani.
Some weekends are carefully planned, while others simply turn into stories you will keep telling for a long time. Our participation in Prespa Run and Fun another activity supported by EuforPrespa Programme, was exactly that kind of experience — a race, camping, music, local food, time at the beach, a cycling tour and many new encounters, all surrounded by the beautiful landscapes of Prespa. As part of the development and promotion of PrespaByBike , we joined the event with our bicycles, promotional stand and a strong desire to present a new way of exploring the Prespa Region on two wheels. A Late Arrival, but Right on Time for the Adventure We arrived in Prespa late on Friday evening, just before race day. Instead of choosing traditional accommodation, we decided to embrace the full outdoor experience and stayed in tents. Arriving after dark, setting up camp and preparing for the next day immediately brought us into the spirit of the event. From the first evening, it was clear that the weekend ahead would be filled with sport, socializing and new experiences. Saturday Morning, the Race and One Memorable Visit On Saturday, after the race had finished, we set up our PrespaByBike promotional stand and began introducing the idea to participants and visitors. One of the most entertaining moments happened when FinGermanec visited our stand. He arrived before we had fully completed our preparations, and the bicycles were not there yet because we brought them a little later. Although he did not find the bikes during his first visit, the moment became a fun part of the weekend and a great opportunity for PrespaByBike to reach a wider audience. Once the bicycles arrived and were displayed next to our stand, they immediately attracted the attention of visitors. We were especially happy to see the enthusiasm of the youngest guests, who had the opportunity to enjoy a short promotional ride and experience PrespaByBike for themselves. They were excited to try the bicycles, and their joy is best captured in the video below. These moments reminded us that cycling in Prespa can be an enjoyable and accessible experience for different generations, while also encouraging children to develop an early appreciation for movement, nature and an active lifestyle. A Day Full of Energy, New People and Local Flavours The positive atmosphere continued throughout the entire day. Visitors, runners, local residents and nature lovers filled the event with energy and good spirits. Between activities, we also had time to explore some of the local flavours. We enjoyed small fried fish, traditional fish soup, pizza and food from local restaurants and hospitality businesses. These culinary moments are an important part of every journey. Prespa is not experienced only through its landscapes, but also through its food, hospitality and people. A Short Break at Pretor Beach After the active morning and the activities around the event, we took a short break at the beach in Pretor. The sunshine, lake and peaceful atmosphere were the perfect way to recharge before our next activity. This combination is exactly what makes Prespa special: in a single day, visitors can participate in a sporting event, relax beside the lake and continue with a cycling adventure. An Afternoon Bike Ride to Krani We used the afternoon for what we enjoy most — exploring Prespa by bicycle. We cycled to Krani and once again saw the enormous potential of the region for cycling and active tourism. The route offers lake views, green landscapes, quiet settlements and opportunities to stop beside the water or visit local restaurants and tourism businesses. The Krani ride gave us an opportunity to enjoy the landscape, test the surrounding area and consider new routes that could become part of the PrespaByBike offer. The Sun Went Down, but the Fun Continued The end of the daytime activities did not mean the end of the gathering. Our stand remained active in the evening, while the lights and music gave the area an entirely different atmosphere. The band Parketi was responsible for the evening entertainment, making sure that the energy of the daytime program continued after sunset. Music, visitors and a relaxed atmosphere created the perfect ending to an eventful Saturday. A Sunday Visit to Ljubojno and Brajchino On Sunday, it was time to leave, but we did not want to say goodbye to Prespa immediately. On our way, we visited the villages of Ljubojno and Brajchino . Although we did not take photographs this time, the visit reminded us how many places remain to be explored. Traditional houses, quiet village streets, surrounding nature and an authentic atmosphere create opportunities for walking, cycling and food-related experiences. During the weekend, we also heard about an interesting cycling route toward Kurbino . It immediately found a place on our list of future adventures. On our next visit, we plan to ride the complete route, document it and explore how it could become part of the PrespaByBike offer. More Than an Event — a Complete Prespa Experience For us, Prespa Run and Fun was much more than an opportunity to attend a promotional event. It was a chance to camp, meet people, present our bicycles, enjoy local food and discover new parts of Prespa. Once again, we saw that the region has everything needed for the development of active and sustainable tourism: beautiful nature, a lake, traditional villages, local flavours, exciting routes and people who know how to create an unforgettable atmosphere. We sincerely thank the organizers and everyone who contributed to the successful delivery of Prespa Run and Fun. Congratulations on an excellent event and on the positive energy created throughout the entire weekend. We hope this was only one of many future opportunities to take part in events like this and to promote Prespa together as a destination for sport, nature, local food and memorable experiences. Our next adventure is already waiting — the cycling route to Kurbino.
